How to Start a Business When You Don't Feel Ready.

If you're thinking about starting a business, you've probably told yourself you'll begin when the timing feels right.

When work is a little quieter.

When you've got more confidence.

When you've saved a bit more money.

When you've done another course or learnt a bit more.

The reality is, there will always be a reason to wait.

Over the past few weeks, I've been working with a group of women who are either starting a business or taking the next step in one they've already begun. One thing came up again and again: many of us spend more time waiting than we do taking action.

We're waiting until we feel ready.

We're waiting until we have the perfect plan.

We're waiting until we know exactly what we're doing.

But here's the truth: businesses aren't built by having every answer on day one. They're built by taking one step, learning from it, and then taking the next.

That doesn't mean rushing into things without a plan. Planning is important. Understanding your customer, knowing what problem you're solving and having a clear direction all matter. But there's a difference between planning and postponing.

Sometimes the smallest action creates the biggest momentum.

That first step might be registering your business name, speaking to a potential customer, attending a networking event or simply telling people about your business idea.

Every small action teaches you something.

Every conversation builds confidence.

Every step moves you forward.

You don't need to know everything before you begin. In fact, most business owners learn far more by doing than they ever could by waiting.

If you're reading this because you've been wondering whether now is the right time to start your business, ask yourself one question:

What's one small step I could take this week?

Not next month.

Not when everything feels perfect.

This week.

Progress doesn't come from perfection. It comes from taking consistent action, even when you don't feel completely ready.
